Late Night

Yesterday was a very late night for me at the U.  I am working intensely today as well, with the hope of clearing a lot of items off my desk.  Unfortunately, it means a brief post, only, today.

PipeTobacco

Yesterday's  (Wednesday's) Goal = 4 bowls
Actual Consumption (Wednesday) = 5 bowls

  2. Well, you're a fine looking fellow. I'll do my smoking report about noon.

  3. Day two:
Not long after getting up I had more of an urge to light up than I did the first day but it’s noon now and so far I’ve resisted doing so. My body has the nicotine it wants so that isn’t the problem, and there isn’t a patch for the other problem so you have to deal with it psychologically. After I get that problem whipped I’ll wean myself of nicotine patches.

I’m not certain it’s an urge, may be just the strange feeling of my lungs adjusting to not getting the smoke.

I urged Teri to start anew today but she hasn’t reported on that so I don’t know how she is doing, I hope well, but that poor girl has a lot of things in her environment that can trigger her need to reach for a smoke.

  4. Pipe - you cut your tobacco intake in half! I'm proud of you.
Billy's right...I am SO worried that I can't do this. Haven't given it a go yet...things have been crazy here and I just now finished a book chapter that was due three weeks ago (I NEVER miss deadlines), but my co-author was recently diagnosed with cancer and is on chemo, so we're writing around her treatments. Both of you are such an inspiration to me! I'm gearing up to give it a go...keep pulling for me and believing in me. Maybe this will be just the motivation I need...

  5. Pipe is doing well, I forgot to mention that earlier.

I've gotten to know Teri pretty well through email exchanges, I may have to drive over there and force her to go though my five day stop smoking program to save her ass so she can center punch an 18 wheeler in her 80's.

BTW Pipe, I told her where you are located, I don't think there is any harm in that, it's not like she is going to run over there and let the fucking air out of your tires. :-)

  6. I did good today, had a banana split to celebrate how good I’m doing. Remember back when smoking a cigarette would give you a kind of high? That hasn’t happened for years so what in the hell is the point? I’m fixing to turn in now so will slap on a fresh patch and smoke my only bowl today.

  7. Nicotine patches are giving me weird dreams, nothing scary, just weird.

  8. So...put a patch on, it's 11:00, and I just had my second cigarette. That may not seem like a big deal, but I'm an early riser and usually I have 4 or 5 just while I'm getting ready to go to work. Then, I typically go out for quick hits regularly, especially when I'm working on something or in transitions. This morning, I finished 2 large projects without going out...so this is a HUGE improvement for a chain smoker like me. I do notice that this last one made me really dizzy (I've got a patch on, too)...but then I realized that I feel the same way after a plane trip when I have one...maybe I feel this dizzy all the time and just don't notice it cuz it's status quo??? Keep pulling for me...

  9. Keep working at it hon, take deep breaths, I got up at 3:00 and a half hour later got stupid and had one bowl.

I'll try to keep it at that unless I have one at bedtime.

  10. Here's an interesting study: http://psychcentral.com/news/2009/07/13/start-nicotine-patch-before-you-quit/7062.html

Apparently, since I am decreasing, it bodes well for me.

  11. I'd tell her to watch a fuck flick to get her mind off smoking but the sex may be so good that the whole neighborhood would want to light up. Hehehehe

  13. The patches give you the nicotine, that isn't what your body is asking for now, but I explained all that in an email. And stop letting that kid you have it's way.

  14. Fuck, that sucked, a burp came up just as I took a swallow of beer and there was a train wreck at the point were the valve to my lungs are. That wasn't a hell of a lot of fun.

  17. Saturday morning::

Smoked two bowls yesterday, my bowl is small so that equals less than two ciggs so guess I didn't do to badly.

Sitting here wanting to light a bowl and refusing too.

  20. Hum, I guess the others got lost. I did okay yesterday, did smoke a bowl at a bar when having a great time though.

Nice to feel the lungs clearing up some and working freer, and that damn knot in my throat breaking up.
