CVS - A Health Care Company?

B*llsh*t!!!!   This is the most incredibly Orwellian load of doublespeak I have heard in a decade!  CVS is a drug store...  a damn drug store.  CVS's announcement today that will stop selling tobacco and is now calling itself a "Health Care Company" is so idiotic and inane.

Most folks today consider tobacco a "drug" so it seems to me a drug store would be the APPROPRIATE store to sell a LEGAL drug of that sort.  I might argue whether tobacco is a drug, but the idea of CVS stopping it because it is into "health" is nonsense, pure and simple.  

CVS is pulling out tobacco because tobacco is unpopular and being demonized and the company wants to earn a bit of publicity and free ad time to boost it's profits.  CVS is simply a STORE that happens to specialize in selling drugs amongst a helluva lot of other stuff. 

I bet that within 5 years when more and more places begin selling marijuana as more places are legalizing it. CVS will start selling it.  Health Care Comany, my *ss!  I am glad I have never frequented our local CVS... Such a stupid company.

    According to the company line - CVS will lose about $2 billion /year in gross sales dropping tobacco from their offerings. Pretty expensive publicity stunt if the loss in sales is 1/4 that.

    As to calling themselves a health care company - seems to me the name means nothing anyway. The industry should be called the health profit industry. Their could give a rats ass about our health.

    Don't have CVS here that I know of. We have at least smoke shops in town, I buy my tobacco there.

    Had to go to the doctor today, blood pressure is too high, of course we discussed my smoking, like I told them, if I didn't smoke I'd fucking be perfect.

    I know it isn't good for me, especially at my age, but it's not that easy to give it up.

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write.
