Shepard and Sheep
From Mass today:
When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.
I find it interesting that sometimes I am like a shepherd, like when I am teaching my class or my research students, but also much of the time I am like the sheep... needing guidance and support. It sometimes feels disjointed to have both roles, but I suspect we all have both roles.

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write. I will maintain those comments that offer kind-hearted and gentle opinion... be it positive or negative. The opinions of your comments will, of course, need to have relevance to the post as well.
i'm very much enjoying the goatherd subplots in don quixote. i'll always maintain that don quixote is one of the top 10 novels ever written.
ReplyDeleteI would definetly agree with you about Don Quixote!
