Knights of Columbus

I have been a member of the Knights of Columbus for several decades.  I originally was encouraged to join by my uncle, who thought I would enjoy it.

For those who may not know, the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization.  A fair amount of community service is done by the K of C.  I have participated in several aspects of this community service over the years.

It has been several years since I have been very active.  Perhaps I should get more involved again.  They do have a bar. :)

  2. i know several Knights. They are active in Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services (LARS), a local non-profit that works with the poor. One has been on the Board of Directors for about 30 years and the other is always at the pantry, moving expired canned goods off the shelves (he arranged for a farmer to pick the stuff up for his hogs) and keeping things tidy, a gargantuan task. He's helped in this by a group of woman from St Mary's, who come in regularly to sort and shelve. Salt of the earth, all of them. And really cheerful!!

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write. I will maintain those comments that offer kind-hearted and gentle opinion... be it positive or negative. The opinions of your comments will, of course, need to have relevance to the post as well.
