Suicide is Hard

Suicide is something that affects a family forever.  It never goes away.  It does not change.  It shapes survivors in ways that they do not want to be shaped.  It hurts those you love.

Twenty five years ago, my family experienced a suicide.  We have never been the same.  I miss how we were.

  1. My mum committed suicide 22years ago.
You are absolutely right. The affects go on and on.
We cannot go back to change anything. Only forward.
Sending all good wishes to you.

  3. My uncle's suicide pretty much ruined my father, who could never come to terms with the loss of his beloved brother. As a pre-teen who was the first to find my uncle's dead body (pistol fired into his mouth), the experience affected me in ways that I didn't realize until many years afterward. Anyone who is reading this and thinking about suicide, DON'T DO IT. Suicide is a permanent response to an impermanent situation in your life. There is ALWAYS a better option. If you can't talk to anybody in your life, call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255

    1. Thank you, Pat. I had meant to post the hotline number as well, but did not.

Yes.... there is ALWAYS a better option, rather than suicide.

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write. I will maintain those comments that offer kind-hearted and gentle opinion... be it positive or negative. The opinions of your comments will, of course, need to have relevance to the post as well.
