Such worrisome times.

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write. I will maintain those comments that offer kind-hearted and gentle opinion... be it positive or negative. The opinions of your comments will, of course, need to have relevance to the post as well.
This patch of history is instructing and possibly changing us profoundly.
ReplyDeleteThank you and all is well with me and my love ones in Idaho.
ReplyDeleteGrading sure has changed within a couple of generations.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't THAT long ago that a "C" was considered a mark of acceptable grasp of a subject, with a "B" given for particular strength and an "A" for true mastery of the material. Today, many students expect an "A" simply for completing all of their assigned work, and a "B" is considered a sign of inadequacy, not of above-average performance. We seem to have raised a generation or two of people who think they're a lot more knowledgeable than they are, who don't seem to know how to recognize what they don't know, and who take offense at the suggestion that they aren't necessarily the best at what they are doing.
And you be well yourself, Professor...
