5 in 43:30

I am surprised and pleased that I can report that on a very carefully measured 5 mile (8.05km) run the other day, I just finished the calculations when I timed myself and I clocked in at having accomplished these 5 miles in 43 minutes and 30 seconds!

Obviously, this is NOT an Olympic record.  But for ME, this is pretty damn fast!!!!  It means I did EACH mile of the five in 8 minutes and 43 seconds!  For that distance, for an old guy like me.... I am pleased with that time!!!!

(For my friends who prefer metrics, I believe I calculated it correctly to be that each of the the eight kilometers I rant, I accomplished them with an average of 5 minutes and 25 seconds per kilometer.)

  1. Congratulations on your accomplishment🏆 I have never tried running, but walking is one of my favorite activities whether outside, inside or on a treadmill. Also, glad you enjoyed my recent post on the medicine cabinet so much that you ordered Bill Bryson’s book. It’s on my bookshelf and sooner or later I will read more.

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write. I will maintain those comments that offer kind-hearted and gentle opinion... be it positive or negative. The opinions of your comments will, of course, need to have relevance to the post as well.
