Gizmo Watch
One of my sons and also one of my daughters has a "gizmo sports watch" that they both wear. These watches can tell you a whole big bunch of stats about health and fitness.... things like heart rate, oxygen levels, and other things like that. It also can map and measure exercise.
I wear (and always have worn) a traditional watch. Of the several I have, the vast majority are traditional, analog face watches, with one being a digital number's watch. As I am a penny pincher, none of my watches were ever expensive (I take that back, my parents gave me one extremely beautiful watch when I earned my Ph.D., all those decades ago, that was and is an expensive watch, but I cannot consider that one.).
"Gizmo Sports Watches" are pretty damn expensive. But, I have to admit, it would be really nice to have a watch map and measure my running.
I am going to think about it a bit. I probably WILL NOT ever get one..... too damn expensive.... but they do intrigue me a bit. I guess I can think for a while, anyhow, as I am running indoors on a track at least until sometime in March.

I appreciate all forms of comments on my writings. I find that I miss the sponteneity of coming to read them here when they were unmoderated. I believe I wrote less due to the moderation. I have decided to adopt limited moderation. Hopefully the prior problems with unfettered comments will not arise again. Please feel free to comment as you wish about the essays I write. I will maintain those comments that offer kind-hearted and gentle opinion... be it positive or negative. The opinions of your comments will, of course, need to have relevance to the post as well.
There are several very capable "gizmo sports watches" that cost less than a very nice pipe. Now that you are presumably not expanding your pipe collection, maybe you can redirect some of that savings toward a nice sports watch?

ReplyDeleteYeah, there are probably a few gizmo watches that are less expensive than a nice pipe... but a pipe is ART and is beautiful.
My pipe collection is pretty large after all those years already. But, I do admit that I look at beautiful pipes on a variety of websites quite regularly.
I tend to think I am too much of a penny-pincher to buy either a "gizmo watch" or a beautiful pipe.

ReplyDeleteI think about it, but I probably will not do so.

I have had two different fitness watches. Both stopped working quite quickly. One was expensive (for me), the other less so. If you are running five miles a day then it nay be worth investing in one for the various info it gives you.
