A Bug of A Bug

There has been a "bug" (I mean this in the euphemistic sense of an illness, not really the bug in my image.) of some sort that has run rampant through my region and it seemed to be very fast acting.  Three of the four members of my household (myself included) feel run down, I have about a dozen folks in my Department that feel run down (again about 75%), and a lot of folks were complaining about the general achy feeling of throat and muscles at Mass this past weekend.  I had hoped to avoid its onslaught, but I too have to grudgingly admit I feel a bit less than what I would call "robust" at the moment.    It is annoying as hell.  And, to top it off, I have a dental appointment tomorrow.  That will make the day just that much better.

I should not complain.  I know I should not.  So, I am sorry I have complained.  Instead, I will close with something more positive.  I still did three miles of running this morning at 5am!  This was three of the five miles I normally walk at that time of day.  I have to admit, I do feel very nice when I do run.  The first 10-15 minutes after I finish, I feel.... I don't know.... I just feel happy that I was able to do it, and that it was not horrible!

Congratulations on the run, which evidently generates plenty of endorphins. Is it wise to run when you have a bug, though? Doctors normally prescribe rest for your condition.

I thanked you on my blog for your links to the information on monarchs, but in case you didn't see my note, thanks again. Very useful. Meanwhile, I hope your bug goes away. Just your mention of the bug reminded me of a household product sold years ago--shelf paper for kitchen cabinets. It was called, "No Bugs, M' Lady." I wonder what dreadful stuff was embedded in the paper.

If you feel like running, no matter what else is going on, I say go for it. Ultimately, your body will let you get away with it or not. In the meantime the rush you get when finished the run is what it is all about. Physical health does not mean much if the mind is not on the same page.

I get the same sense of satisfaction after a bike ride.

I had a bug, at least I was assured it was a bug by the color of my snot - according to a couple of my blogging friends - mine was not clear Clear is an indication of our old friend hay fever. Of course, that means I still have to go through allergy season. Have you ascertained it's a cold?

I wish I could run - I liked that feeling after biking when I could.

3 miles is nothing to sneeze at.

Can't feel tip top all the time when so many things are trying to kill us. But in general I have held up pretty good so I'm thankful for that.
