Blue

I am feeling blue today. I got up earlier than usual today (I hit the road for walking at 5:15am. Today is my 800th day walking. Yet, I am growing ever more aggravated about the loss of my computer drives. It is making me go insane trying to think of spots I have not looked yet where it could potentially be. They were in a rather large case about 6 X 8 inches. I wish I could just find it.

maybe your wife is getting you another one for Christmas. she took yours so as to be sure she buys the right thing?

Jane said the same thing I was thinking about the car seats.

But, really, that is dreaming in the past. Right now, can you tell me what you plan to do?

Assume that you find the thing. What procedures have you installed in your life to keep it backed up from now on? Have you already bought a new drive? Are you backing it up yet? What are your backup procedures?

Go out an buy one if you haven't already. Check into your college's IT dept. Do they have a big blob of space for the professors to back up to? Perhaps it is time to discuss that in the next faculty meeting. I would certainly have facts and figures—I had 'em back in the '80's!

See what I'm doing to you? Instead of feeling helpless about the loss, you can proactively use the loss for good.

How long are you planning to wait before assuming the loss is actual? Have you set up a time on your calendar so that such and such a day you will start working to restore as much data as possible?

BTW, look up the process of loss somewhere. You are in denial right now (so am I. I hope you find it!) but you know that the rest of the chain of emotional events are heading for your brain. What are you doing to deal with the anger? Your depression? If you are planning right now, you can always force a smile and point your anger and depression to what is already accomplished.

I'm hoping for the best...

That is a good size box to lose track of, maybe it was grabbed by someone.

I'm assuming that this box had your name and phone number in it. Well, good luck with it showing up again, it may.

Hey, did you check with lost and found at the college?
