Changes

Due to a myriad of different factors, I am working through in my mind some significant changes I wish to make for myself personally, and for this blog and my writings in particular. I would like a) to become a better person... more kind, more considerate, more caring, b) a happier person... less prone to sadness, less morose in general, and less tired moment-to-moment, and c) a more interesting blog to read... by having more interesting writings. I am tired of being caught up in different emotionally draining issues from work, politics, and other aspects of life. In my wildest imagination, I would have never guessed that in my day-to-day life, everything would get so emotionally draining. I always envisioned life to become more and more about showing love, sharing love and working hard to try to make our own little pieces of the world better.

I will be thinking about the above issues for the next several days, and I may or may not be posting for the first few days. However, if you have any comments or suggestions, I would be glad to hear them.

I'm pretty ignorant, but I do know that most news is depressing. If you are watching the news on TV or reading the daily papers, drop it. Get a news magazine that comes once a week or once a month and wait a week before reading. By that time
1. it is usually too late to react and we shrug (and our thoughts become more proactive.)
2. the flying rumors (Obama drinks lite beer!) have time to settle and disappear (and you don't have to care even if you detest lite beer because you don't know.)
3. Kooks are swamped out by more important news (and become mere bubbles in the cauldron, rather than double the trouble.)

And one additional comment.
Post and comment with humor. I have had fun with this comment on news. I might have commented earlier to you on this same subject, but, hey, I've came up with some pretty silly things this time around. Can one be silly and depressed at the same time?
Now, if you could just keep the inane kooks from doubling the trouble in your comment section...(Hey! the word verification is quadhee, which is Latin for, "4Lafs.")

There is nothing more emotionally draining to me than dealing with members of THE INSANE CHICKS SOCIETY (TICS)

On the other hand, I learn a lot from all that even though it makes my brain hurt at times.

Oh well, we're all just a bunch of monkeys fucking around and maybe we shouldn't take all this too serious.

The thing to ask yourself is, "But am I having a good time?" If you're not, I would change that.

I too suffer from many of the symptoms you mention, but over the past few years I have learned how to become more comfortable with the neurochemical system and circumstances God "blessed" me with. There are four primary tools that have helped me to lessen the severity and frequency of my depression:

Proper diet including fish Oil and multivitamin
Vigorous exercise
Prayer
Learning about the cause of "suffering"

I found this document very helpful http://www.buddhistelibrary.org/cpg1420/displayimage.php?album=15&pos=0

Best of luck!

Do me a favor!

Continue to post about things that pique your interest in the scientific literature. Not just things that affect us in a big way, but also the bits and pieces that have to do with your personal interest.

You might have missed it, so I better make it more explicit, I don't know other people very well at all. I enjoy reading pieces of your life. Keep it up.

I, too, thank my blog for being a sort of ledger of things I need to change. Only I am terrible at book-keeping. Haha.
